ABOUT ABOUT

Philly Improv Theater’s We The People Improv Festival is the main improv festival for the City of Philadelphia. The fest is dedicated to showcasing the diversity of improv talent from across the nation and around the globe, while also highlighting the diversity and talent of our beautiful city to our guest artists and all those in attendance. Our producing team and Philly’s improv scene are excited to come together under one roof for a weekend celebrating excellence in improvisational comedy, and the camaraderie of the worldwide improv community. We The People has your back and we can’t wait to laugh with you!

SEBASTIAN (CHICAGO, IL)

Sebastian is a collective of improvisers hailing from across the continental U.S. (sorry Hawaii) who all met by chance at the iO Theater of Chicago. Their form is “Dragon’s Breath” – a complex piece that asks improvisers to create the world they invent, and manifest it without missing a beat. There is no watching from the sidelines in a Dragon’s Breath show – everyone is involved from the second the lights go up. Warning: It gets sweaty! You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, you’ll say “WHAT?!”, but regardless, you’ll experience something you’ve truly never seen before at an improv show.

X PLUS ONE: THE IMPROVISED 1940S RADIO SHOW (NEW YORK, NY)

Are you a fan of The Thrilling Adventure Hour? Then you’ll love X Plus One, improvised 1940s science-fiction radio at its finest! Journey back in time to the Golden Age of Radio, when our heroes fought bravely against atomic saucers, ray guns, and metal men with their American can-do spirit! Our all-star rotating cast features Jonathan Desley, Lou Fernandez, Matt Giroveanu, Geoff Grimwood, Austin Sanders, Jeff Scherer, and Rachel Scherer, with the excellent David Armstrong on announcements, Foley, and music direction. Directed by Kevin Laibson.
